New Appointments
Warren Egginton and Jennifer Thain have recently been recruited to the Rippin Steel team.

Warren has been appointed to the position of Senior Contracts Manager with full responsibility for the company’s construction activities. After a brief spell working in New Zealand, Warren joins us from major southern based steel fabricator, Siac Tetbury Steel and brings with him a wealth of management experience in steel fabrication and construction.

Jennifer has been brought to assist our busy Operations Department and although new to steel fabrication, she is proving a quick learner and is already making a positive contribution.

Steel Prices
After two consecutive quarters of stable prices, Corus have announced that base prices for structural steel sections are to increase by £60/tonne from 1st April 2008 and they are already making noises that this will be followed by a further increase of circa £20/tonne in quarter 3 of this year. In justifying the increases, Corus points to escalating raw material and energy prices forcing up manufacturing costs and also, the ‘opportunity’ factor presented by a shortfall in steel producing capacity in meeting the high demand for products world wide.
